Rug Cleaning in Farragut
Collection and delivery in Farragut are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Farragut is built from
Incorporated in 1980 and built out from then to now along Kingston Pike and Northshore Drive, between Turkey Creek and the water. Large subdivision and custom housing, a good deal of it on the coves and peninsulas of Fort Loudoun Lake with private docks, boathouses and covered slips at the bottom of the garden.
Established family and retired households, a strong boating culture, and houses laid out around a lake room or a walk-out level that everybody comes back into off the water.
The Farragut problem
Fort Loudoun is not a lake, it is a TVA reservoir, and that changes what comes into the house. The pool is drawn down for the winter and refilled for the summer, so every autumn a wide band of lake bed is exposed, dries out and gets walked over, and the fine reservoir sediment on it is nothing like garden soil — it is sharp, it is pale, and it goes to the base of a pile and stays there where no vacuum reaches it. Then there is the season itself. From May to September the same rug in the lake room takes wet feet, dripping swimwear and a pile of towels several times a day, so it is not dealing with one spill, it is going through a wetting and drying cycle every afternoon for four months. Wool holds close to a third of its own weight in water without ever feeling wet, and a foundation that is damp again before it has finished drying is where the smell starts. The last one is storage: a rug rolled into a boathouse or a dock box over the winter is being kept in unconditioned air a few feet above the water, which is the one place it should not be.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
